» Barstool’s Dave Portnoy tests pizza at Schenectady’s 151 Bar & Restaurant due to hype on One Bite mobile app

SCHENECTADY — The reviewers on Barstool Sports’ One Bite Pizza Reviews mobile phone app steered Dave Portnoy wrong with their thoughts on the slices at Schenectady’s 151 Bar & Restaurant.

Portnoy, Barstool’s founder, has been on a tour recently of Capital Region pizza spots for the famous One Bite Pizza Reviews YouTube channel. In several of the videos, he mentions that the original list of spots to taste test was 10. However the list has grown as fans have added recommendations and after Schenectady’s Morrettes King Steakhouse caught Portnoy’s eye. He has tried pizzas in Guilderland, Saratoga Springs, Malta and Middle Grove.

In the video about 151, Portnoy says the restaurant caught his attention because 10 people had given the pizza there a rating of 7.9 out of 10. That being said, from the moment he arrived at the Lafayette Street location even the staff was warning him that the eatery is not known for its pizza and he should tamper his expectations.

The chef who made the cheese pie that Portnoy eventually tested told Portnoy that it was only the fourth pizza he had ever made. Portnoy admitted to having low hope just before taking his first bite.

“I don’t know what’s going on there, but there’s some funny business because the One Bite app is generally very accurate,” he said in the video.

Despite his experience with 151’s pizza, Portnoy gave an overall positive review of the bar and restaurant.
