Woman, 67, dies in her bed as fire tears through her Bronx home

A 67-year-old woman died in her bed as a fast-moving fire tore through her Bronx home, cops said Thursday.

The fire broke out on the second floor of the two-story brick house on Perry Ave. near E. 207th St. in Norwood about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

Firefighters extinguishing the smoky blaze found the victim lying in her bed.

The woman died at the scene, cops said. Her name was not immediately released.

The blaze was put out within two hours, an FDNY spokesman said. More than 60 firefighters were called to the scene to fight the fire.

The cause of the fire was under investigation Thursday.
